Watch: Mustang Mach-E Deep Dive

Mustang Mach-E Deep Dive

Ford first launched the Mustang onto the market back in 1964 and since then we have seen six generations of the model before the release of the Mustang Mach-E, Ford’s first all-electric SUV, towards the end of 2020.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E was to revolutionise the electric vehicle market, bringing to the market incredible performance and a truly eye-catching design with zero-emission driving.

Electric Benefits

As with any other electric vehicle, there are a wide range of benefits that come with owning an electric car such as the Mustang Mach-E:

Government ‘Road to Zero’

The government are making moves to switch everyone to zero emissions driving by 2050, with 2040 being the planned date to end the sales of new conventional petrol and diesel engine cars. With this in mind, it’s a good time to start thinking about making the move to electric.

Low Emissions

If you live in an area where there are low emission zones in place, you may find you can save a considerable amount of money by switching to a zero or low emissions vehicle to prevent paying congestion charges on a daily basis.

More Convenience

With an electric vehicle, you can charge your car from the comfort of your own home, so there’s no more last minute trips to the fuel station.

Cheaper to run

By switching to an electric car, you can benefit from lower running costs compared to those of conventional petrol or diesel vehicles. Ford estimate you could see an annual saving of around £779 based on 12,500 miles per annum and a petrol cost of £1.18 per litre.

About the Mustang Mach-E

Now that you have learnt how an electric vehicle such as the Mustang Mach-E can benefit you, you will want to see what the car has to offer, from the design of the car, what features are available inside and what technology it has.

With 4 model variants, the features can vary, but the even the features that come as standard with the Mustang Mach-E are powerful and unrivalled.

Interior

As standard, all Mach-E model come with a range of storage options, including adjustable load floor and charge cord storage so your passengers can be free of additional cargo that would otherwise get placed on the rear seats.

There’s also additional storage under the pedestal centre console armrest, storage bins on the front door, a glove box and overhead console suitable for sunglasses.

The front row seats are heated (optional feature), so you and your front passenger can have a much more comfortable journey, especially during the colder months.

The seat upholstery is ActiveX Black Onyx, with the option to upgrade with the GT model.

There’s an optional heated steering wheel too, which comes as standard with both the Premium and GT models.

Exterior

With a range of paint options, including Rapid Red, Star White, Shadow Black and Iconic Silver, you can choose a specification that suits you and your lifestyle.

The design is incredibly sleek and stylish, with delicate lines that is aerodynamic when driving. The shape itself is not bulky or rigid, but rather a more rounded bodystyle.

Despite this model being an SUV, the front end is still reminiscent of the original Mustang, with the elongated headlights and low grille.

Design

The Panoramic fixed glass roof brings in more natural light and makes the cabin feel much more spacious. In the Summer months, the special coating helps keep the car cool, while in Winter, the coating helps keep in the warmth.

In place of the conventional engine, you’ll find a front trunk that provides an additional 81 litres of space. This storage space is convenient for placing the extension cables required for charging the vehicle.

Technology

The Mustang Mach-E is probably most renowned for its range of technology features, which really are second to none.

First up is the E-Latch System, which is in replacement of door handles, allowing you to access your vehicle when the vehicle detects your car fob within range. The button will illuminate, allowing you to open the door with just the touch of a button.

For busy families, the Hands-Free Tailgate is a real game changer. Similar to the E-Latch system, when your key fob is in range of the car, the boot will allow you to unlock the door using foot movement where the sensor is. This feature is specifically convenient when carrying heavy shopping bags or awkward loads.

Inside the cabin, you have Ford SYNC 4A, cloud connected in-car technology that provides advanced route planning and also has integrated voice technology. There’s also wireless smartphone integration, meaning you can leave your phone stored away and utilise the options on screen.

The intuitive 15.5” vertical touchscreen puts everything at your fingertips and allows you to access all of the cars features at once. You can access the latest weather updates, traffic information and find public charge points in the vicinity.

There’s also a host of safety features included as standard, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Information System and Active Park Assist.

If you will be driving on country roads on a regular basis, the Auto High Beam feature will sense any approaching traffic and automatically dim the lights, returning to their natural position once the road clears.

Performance

With All Wheel Drive (AWD), the electric motor on the front and rear axle enhances the performance and lets you tackle different terrains and road conditions much easier.

The battery range depends on the battery you opt for, but with the Standard Range battery, you can expect around 279 miles of range, whereas with the Extended Range battery, you are looking at around 379 miles, both on a single charge.

There are three different drive modes with the Mustang Mach-E, including Active, Whisper and Untamed, all of which can alter the engine sounds and provide ambient lighting to suit the outside environment.

Well, there you have it, a deep dive into the Mustang Mach-E and although we haven’t covered every technical specification, we think you should pop down and take a test drive to see how great the Mach-E is for yourself.
